This photo is an accurate representation of what my summer has looked like since coming home to Hawaii (minus the little trip to Alaska) because the most I’ve done since coming home is sleep and lay around and watch tv and stare at my ceiling in the morning (afternoon) and marvel at how pretty a white ceiling looks with light streaming in from a window at the right.  And let me tell you it has been great.  It has been fantastic.I had huge plans for being productive this summer.  I was going to take on a million and one little projects.  I was going to get artsyfartsy.  I was going to drive my parents nuts with how much I was with my friends and not at home.  I was going to plan out my academic and professional life.  I was going to self-improve.  I was going to make lists.  I was going to journal.  I was going to blog.
Then I came home and realized that after my freshman year of college what I really  wanted was to do nothing.  Nothing at all.  Tomorrow, however, is the first day of my (part-time, unpaid) internship with Honolulu Civil Beat.  Therefore starting tomorrow I resolve to be productive, to sleep less and go out more, to read, to beach, to blog, to get creative, to party and, most importantly, to find a part-time paying job.  Because this internship may pay off in the future but it’s certainly not going to help pay for my tuition.
So with that in mind— Hi, my name is Lindsey.  I’m 19 and willing to take on any job that is legal and has no possibility of ruining my reputation, particularly if I should so happen to take on an incredibly important position in the future (you never know what could happen).  I’m mostly interested in journalism, international relations and photography but I’m also a little bit desperate so I’m willing to “explore other career fields and opportunities”.  I worked for a library for 6 months once in high school and I loved it.  I worked for Forever 21 last summer and quit after 5 days because I hated it but I’m only telling you this because what I’ve learned from that experience is that $$$ is $$$ and I could have learned to love it—actually just kidding, I could have learned to tolerate it.  Also, did I mention a slight interest in fashion?  I’m subscribed to Vogue, Nylon and GQ and while I’m not the most fashionable person on the planet, I can tell you that Alexander McQueen was a genius, Sarah Burton taking over as head designer for the McQueen house was a brilliant idea, Marchesa creates exquisite works of art, Alexander Wang is what I would live in if I could afford it and Versace is almost always sexy cool.
So, you know, hit me up if you got a job offer.  I could send you a resume pronto.  Or a headshot because I’m cute and shit.  ALSO bonus points if the offer includes cute coworkers.
(Just kidding about the headshot because then you might not believe I’m old enough to work.)
